Bayou Teche, Breau Bridge, LA | Van Eaton & Romero
Bayou Teche that curls around and through Breaux Bridge has a long colorful history and holds cultural significance for the area. Thousands of years ago it was the main course of the Mississippi River and during the time of the Acadian migration to what was then known as the Attakapas region, the Teche was the primary means of transportation.

Breaux Bridge, LA

Breaux Bridge, just a few minutes northeast of Lafayette, is counted within the larger Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area and recognized as a major destination for anyone interested in Cajun culture, Zydeco and Cajun music and the wonders of cooking with crawfish.

Breaux Bridge, in the southwest corner of the state along with Lafayette, has served as an important geographic, social, cultural and economic hub since the area was first established at the turn of the 19th century. French Canadian Acadians were among the early settlers here, joined by French Creoles soon after. The culinary and cultural contributions of these early settlers are still felt today.

Homebuyers looking for the perfectly placed city that can offer the best of all worlds — a combination of urban and country living, suburban qualities and big-city amenities all at once — should look no further than the bedroom community of Breaux Bridge. Homes of every architectural description are available in newly designed communities and in redeveloping historic areas, close to every aspect of Louisiana’s renowned hunting, fishing, biking, hiking and walking venues.

Historic homes have been painstakingly maintained for hundreds of years while the boldest of new designs can be found in other neighborhoods. A historic downtown district, where the architectural wonders of the 1800’s have been brought back to service, serves as an important meeting place for residents and tourists alike. Major businesses (tech-related and more traditional manufacturing, medical and military) provide well-paid employment to many area residents.

Those looking for a new home or business in the area will find it to be a family-friendly and affordable place to live, a place that confidently displays some of the best characteristics of Louisiana.
